11/10 Falling Into Fall...

November is here in full swing as we get used to the cold weather and start to prep for all the winter shenanigans! Not only are we happy about the "pumpkin spiced lattes" or the switch to the winter wardrobe, but we can now look forward to all the parties! In our particular industry each week is filled with events and happy hours as we start to prepare for the big bash holiday parties. This past week, a Kimball Office team member made the trip to Arizona to tackle the National Healthcare Design Conference. Check out some of the photos that Steve Schultz was able to snag from the Kimball Office booth at the show earlier in the week!

In The News!
Healthcare Design Conference

The HEALTHCARE DESIGN Conference is the premier event devoted to how the design of responsibly built environments directly impact the safety, operation, clinical outcomes, and financial success of healthcare facilities now and into the future. With over 4100 participants at the 2012 HEATHCARE DESIGN Conference, this is the industry’s best-attended conference where attendees can earn up to 24 continuing education credits, network with peers, and influence the direction of the industry as it advances into the future.

This year Kimball Office's Steve Schultz, Market Sales Manager, was at the conference and was able to snap a few pictures of our booth. If you did not attend, or did and want a refresher course, check out our photos below:

With several new offerings tailored to meet the needs of healthcare environments, Kimball® Office displayed two seating products, Villa™ and Beo®, during the HEALTHCARE DESIGN Conference, Nov. 4-6 in Phoenix, Az. Both seating solutions help maximize available space, work around obstacles, are easy to maintain and provide patients and visitors with comfortable and stylish seating options that complement their environments.

“When it comes to seating arrangements in healthcare environments, it is important to provide options that cater to the needs of all types of patients and visitors, including the youngest. Kimball Office is committed to working with healthcare organizations to identify the most appropriate solutions that can work within budgets and encourage a clean and safe environment,” said Max Holland, director of vertical markets for Kimball Office.

Recipe Of The Week!
Old-Fashioned Apple Pie

It's getting to be that time of year again when the sweets, cakes, and pies come out to play! For the months of November through December trying out new recipes is not only ideal, but it's pretty delicious too! Try your hand in this recipe for Martha Stewarts, Old-Fashioned Apple Pie...yum!

Yield: 10-12 Servings

"Apple pie" conjures warmth, aroma, taste, and togetherness. This one is filled with Granny Smith apples and is tucked into a buttery crust."

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • Pie Dough
  • 12 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar, plus additional for pie top
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. On a lightly floured surface, roll out Pie Dough into two 1/8-inch-thick circles to a diameter slightly larger than that of an 11-inch plate. Press one pastry circle into the pie plate. Place the other circle on waxed paper, and cover with plastic wrap. Chill all pastry until firm, about 30 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, lemon zest and juice, spices, and flour. Toss well. Spoon apples into pie pan. Dot with butter, and cover with remaining pastry circle. Cut several steam vents across top. Seal by crimping edges as desired. Brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with additional sugar.
  3. Bake until crust is brown and juices are bubbling, about 1 hour. Let cool on wire rack before serving.
