10/21 DC Food Trucks

Join the Food Truck bandwagon! Food Trucks have been in the United States since the expansion westward, feeding cattlemen. Food Trucks have evolved greatly since then, turning into great cuisine on the go! Food Trucks use Facebook and Twitter to keep their followers updated on where they move throughout the city each day. This week, Kimball Office has created a guide to the Food Trucks in D.C. With more than 50 food trucks in D.C. alone, this week we will be focusing on the savory Food Trucks, perfect for lunch! Enjoy!




In The News! Cosmo Couture Event in DC
This year's Cosmo Couture was based on photos taken by each design team of something in the D.C. area. Kimball Office partnered with Kling Stubbins to create a dress for the event this year based on "Metro Chic". Metro Chic is symmetry vs. asymmetry,  sleek and striking, and innovative.

The model wore a dress made of Hum Wool Felt, Interstuhl Fit Mesh, and Hum Metal Panels

New Things To Try In The Area:

Planning to launch on October 26th, Shawarma will be serving authentic Lebanese platters.



Kimchi BBQ Taco
Launcing in early November, Kimchi BBQ Taco is a Korean Grill that will be in D.C. for lunch, and Tyson's VA for Dinners.

Product Of The Week! Hum. Minds At Work
This week we are showcasing Hum. Minds At Work. Hum was an inspiration for the Kling Stubbins dress this year at Cosmo Couture, along with the Metro Station at Pentagon City.

It creates a collaborative work environment that can be specialized to work in any space. Hum can be created with a variety of mixed materials for total flexibility.   1. Food Trucks individually post where they are on their twitter. So if you have any favorites, follow them on twitter!
  2. Food Truck Fiesta is the D.C. Website for all Food Trucks. It has a "real time" map that posts where each food truck is.
  3. On the left side of the Food Truck Fiesta Webpage is a link to all of the Food Trucks in D.C.
  4. D.C. Food Trucks Association's website has all of the twitter updates as well from each Food Truck.

10/14 Fall in DC

Fall is in full swing! The leaves are changing colors and the weather is starting to get cooler. This fall, why not try something new. Enjoy food? Try the Restaurant Week at the Village at Shirlington in VA. Head out to Centerville to attend the Fall Festival at Cox Farms for a fun time with family and friends! Like football? Grab tickets to this weekend's Redskin's football game against the Eagles at FedEx Field. However you spend your weekends, we hope you enjoy your Fall this year!


New Things To Try In The Area:

Passion Food Hospitality: District Commons, Burger Tap and Shake
This DC food group that has already brought us great dining experiences such as: DC Coast, Ceiba, Acadiana, and Passionfish, is now bringing two new restaurants to the DC food scene!

District Commons- Located at 2200 Pennsylvania Ave. in Foggy Bottom, District Commons has a wide range of "East Coast" favorites including: A Raw Bar, Scallops, Salmon, Burgers, Roasted Duck, Chicken, a wide range of artisanal hams, a catch of the day, and many others. Burger, Tap and Shake- A less pricy option to the other restaurants by Passion Food Hospitality, Burger Tap and Shake gives you a bang for your buck!
With a menu listed by prices, finding something to please you appetite and wallet is easy! We are excited to try the: 6 Buck Chuck with a house ground Pineland Farms beef patty, american cheese, and AP sauce. Recently opened in DC, Bobby's Burger Palace has now opened another location in College Park!

10/7 DC Coffee Shops

This October, why not make early mornings a little easier by trying out some new coffee shops! Kimball Office has listed some great D.C. Coffee Shops in our Cool Things We Love Section. Feeling adventurous, try out the Taste of D.C. event this weekend, which we have listed a guide to in our New Things To Try In The Area Section. Or, in honor of Columbus Day, take a boat tour of D.C.!

New Things To Try In The Area: Taste Of D.C.
This weekend, staring on Saturday the 8th until Monday the 10th, the food event Taste of D.C. will be going on! This event, held on Columbus Day Weekend every Fall brings together 60+ restaurants for people to try! 



Here is Kimball Office's short guide for the Taste of D.C.:

  • Buy Tickets! You can buy a set of 10 or 20 for food and alcohol, and there are some events that require a ticket to be bought in advance as well. Tasting = 1-2 tickets. Entrees = 3-5 tickets. Wine/Beer (sample) = 1-3 tickets, Wine/Beer (full) = 4-5 tickets.
  • Pick which restaurants you want to hit up ahead of time, since there are so many to choose from! Some of our favorite restaurants attending include: Ben's Chili Bowl, Coppi's Organic Restaurant, Local 16, Lincoln, The Front Page D.C., Luke's Lobster, Station 4, Wicked Waffle, La Tasca, Edward Marc Choclatier, Mai Thai, and Sprinkles Cupcakes.
  • Bring an appetite!
  • Be sure to check out all the entertainment that will be at this event!
  • Taste of D.C. is located at Pennsylvania Ave. NW & 12th Street NW.

Big Bear Cafe
Big Bear Cafe is the perfect place to grab some great coffee or tea, made with "secret special" ingredients from the local farmer's market, Bloomingdale. U Street Cafe
With all day breakfast and handcrafted coffee, U Street Cafe is the perfect morning stop! U Street Cafe would be great to grab a quick bite in a warm setting with a client or co worker. 
For fall, we are loving: Cinnamon Latte, the Red Eye Coffee, Chai Smoothie, Apple Cinnamon Flavored Waffle, Cinnamon Raisin Bagel, Homemade Soup of the Day, Roast Beef Sandwich, and the Grilled Chicken Avocado Sandwich. For the entire menu, click here.

Tryst Coffeehouse
Tryst Coffeehouse, bar, and lounge is a one of a kind eatery that offers a variety of drinks and great food to go along with it. Some of over favorite Tryst drinks for October include: Hot mulled orange juice, Hot mulled apple cider, Tryst House Blend Coffee, Americano Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Dragon's Well Tea,  City Harvest Green Tea, and the Voodoo Lady Coffeehouse Cocktail. With all day brunch, small entrees, sandwiches, salads, and fresh pastries, there is something for everyone to eat at Tryst!
